Enables students undertaking the programme in their home country to grow and mature at home and within a familiar territory for another year before departing from home to universities in Australia, Canada, Mauritius, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
The IUFP is an intensive University Foundation Programme and requires students to undertake at least six subjects over a period of one year. All students on the programme will undertake three core compulsory subjects and three electives of their choice, depending on the degree they wish to pursue.
Students will undertake three compulsory Core subjects in addition to three Elective subjects. The Elective subjects will be subject areas that are relevant to the student’s choice of degree course.
Students must have completed the Secondary High School education in their own country and be at least 16 years old. They must possess Five (5) Credits at GCSE ‘O’ Level standard (or equivalent), which must include English language and Mathematics.
Students undertaking the IUFP are required to obtain an overall Band Score of 6.5 (6.0 in each sub-test) by the time they complete the programme. Unless a student already possesses an IELTS overall score of 6.5 with 6.0 in each sub-test, all IUFP students are required to undertake the IELTS exam at the end of the programme. The Academic English module of the course is designed to improve the English language competence of IUFP students in readiness for their degree studies at University.
Academic progress at Partner Schools is supervised by Programme Directors at Partner Schools. They also advise on the University degree application process. Course tutors provide feedback to students regarding progress on their modules, whilst Individual Progress Charts are produced at the end of each term to measure each student’s overall performance level.
The elective subjects of the IUFP are benchmarked on the standard OCR specifications, which meet the requirements of the Common Criteria (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) and the Advanced Level Qualification Specific Criteria. The programme is a condensed GCEAS and A2 and designed to be more intensive and wider in scope than the standard GCE A level course.
The duration of the IUFP is 6 months to 1 year, depending on whether the student is studying under the Intensive or Standard Route.
